Anodizing

Anodizing

We specialize in applying anodic coatings to magnesium parts using the HAE process. This chrome-free solution protects the metal from attack by salt water and other corrosive elements. HAE anodizing is critical to surface sealing and paint adhesion applications. Anodizing your magnesium parts can:

  • Increase resistance to abrasion
  • Add thermal and electrical insulation properties
  • Protect from galvanic corrosion
  • Provide an excellent base for paints and sealants

Named after its inventor, Harry A. Evangelides, the HAE Coating was developed for magnesium parts in order to produce better quality results than typical treatments. Unlike other coatings, the HAE anodize does not use chromates in its solution and is a favorite amongst customers looking to improve their environmental impact without sacrificing quality.

CCC-101: Light Film HAE Anodize

For magnesium parts designed with smooth machined areas (typically below a surface roughness of 63AA); its purpose is to increase corrosion resistance or produce surfaces suitable for the application of an organic protective finish.

*Dimensional growth within range of .0001” – .0003” (.1 – .3 mil) per surface

CCC-102: Heavy Film HAE Anodize

For magnesium parts exposed to extreme environments; its purpose is to increase corrosion resistance or produce surfaces suitable for the application of an organic protective finish.

*Dimensional growth within range of .001” – .002” (1 – 2 mil) per surface
